Leather care
Taking care of your bag
Our bags will be kept a lifetime, growing more beautiful from the changes of the leather hides as they are handled in use.
Here are some handy tips to protect your leather bag for years to come.
- Cleaning
Wipe your bag regularly with a dry cloth to remove dust. Use a slightly damp cloth to wipe the surface gently if necessary and don’t forget to wipe the hardware. - Conditioning
Apply a thin layer of our leather cream with a lint free cloth (micro-fibre will be just fine), a natural or synthetic sponge using an even circular motion and allow it to dry.
Drying is temperature related but the cream generally dries in a couple of minutes after which it can be buffed with a polish brush or soft cloth.
It will renovate and provide an elegant luster on all smooth leathers. It also provides a good degree of water resistance.
Our cream is not generally recommended for suede or nubuck but can be used to convert the latter to a waxy effect finish. - Weatherproofing
Leather is permeable and therefore not waterproof, so please take care to protect your bag against water spills.
In the case of a water spill always allow your bag to dry naturally. - Storing
Keep and store your leather items in a well ventilated area/space.
Store your bag in a fabric dust-bag together with silica gel packets to prevent dampness.
Fill your bag with stuffing so that it will retain its shape.
Air every two weeks to a month (depending where you live) to stop the growth of mold. - Protecting
Keep leather items out of direct sunlight.
Do not expose your leather to excessive heat or open flames.
Avoid contact with sharp or abrasive objects.
Avoid harsh chemicals.
