The studio
SEVENTYFOUR is an artisan leather studio with sand between its toes. Based in the coastal town of Wilderness, South Africa, our craft is slow, intentional, and joyfully human. Each bag takes its own time to come to life - sometimes a day, sometimes three - but always with the same care, patience, and attention to detail. From hand-cutting the leather to punching every hole and saddle-stitching with waxed thread, every step is done by hand.

The ocean has always been at the heart of SEVENTYFOUR. Growing up, summers meant saltwater, ice cream, sunburnt shoulders, and treasures collected from the beach. That deep connection to the coast now flows through our work: all of our bags are named after endangered fish species from the WWF SASSI list, a playful yet meaningful reminder to protect the waters we love.
Leather is also part of my heritage. My great-grandfather was a hobby shoemaker, and I still treasure a tiny leather pump he handcrafted for my mother when she was a child. That same tradition of care and craftmanship lives on in every SEVENTYFOUR bag.
Our design philosophy is simple yet spirited: clean lines with playful touches. More than just an accessory, SEVENTYFOUR bags are companions. Handcrafted pieces that carry joy as much as they carry your essentials.
At heart, we make happy, handstitched handbags. Each one is to be used and loved every day, and to remind you that sustainability can be simple, meaningful and fun.
